Ramnor's last words

Hello everyone!

I've been reading The Green Ember series out loud to my younger siblings recently, and we've finished Ember Falls. It's such a wonderful thing to re-experience this amazing series all over again!

It's got me thinking on many things, but especially on what Ramnor was talking about when he said "there it lies". Has anyone solved this riddle as of yet? Because, lol, I'm still a little perplexed by what he meant.

Hi I am new

Hello I am new and I am originally from the Httyd fandom. I got the first two books of this series for Christmas and I fell head over heels in love with them. I was wondering if I could join and help edit and show you my fanart. It’s picket from the cover of “Embet falls”

as you can see it is a work in progress like the sword looks like it will snap off. But yea that is pretty much it.

Characters, locations, etc. in prologues

It recently occurred to me many of our Old Natalia characters have information on their pages from a Green Ember book prologue in which they appeared. However, so far, all of these prologues have later been recounted word for word in a subsequent Old Natalia book. Therefore, it makes sense to me to stop adding any prologue information to character pages; the only exception to this might be if a character appears or is mentioned later in the book. Or, we could keep adding the prologues until the actual Old Natalia book is released, although it seems to me there will probably only be one more.

Any thoughts on this?

Stub articles

So I've been going through our stubs, and there have been several articles that aren't really stubs but still have the stub tag at the top. Just a reminder that the stub template is only to be used if the article is actually missing information, not just short as a result of context.

Thanks!

Spoilers template

So I've noticed that the Spoilers template is currently set up to indicate spoilers from The Wreck and Rise of Whitson Mariner. Thing is, not all of the articles where that template is found contain information from that book. So I'm wondering: should we have more than one spoiler template? Or should we remove the existing one from pages where it's not applicable to Wreck and Rise, given that Ember Rising has been out for just shy of nine months?

Your thoughts on TWaRoWM

Gonna go ahead and make this post...

So! What are your thoughts on the new book? Likes? Dislikes? (I haven't quite finished the book myself yet, I'll probably post a reply of my own as soon as I do. XD)

I have the new book!

As the title says, last night I received my pre-ordered copy of The Wreck and Rise of Whitson Mariner in the mail. No idea why it came so early. XP But I'm certainly not complaining!

Anyway, I've almost finished with the current book I'm reading, whereupon I'll jump right into reading Wreck and Rise. I did give the book a quick scan already, though, and I'll tell you this much: we are going to get a LOT more clarity on Lander's dragons. That's all I'll say. ;)

Holiday wiki decoration ideas

The holidays are upon us, Green Ember fans, and we're going to decorate the wiki to match the season. If you have any ideas on how we could make our fanbase more festive, comment below! There are no bad ideas! :)

J.S. Clingman has already suggested the following:

*Temporarily changing the wiki colors

*Adding a holiday greeting to the front page

New book!

So, we've got our next TGE book announced: The Wreck and Rise of Whitson Mariner!

Personally I'm not quite as excited for this one as I think I would be for another Green Ember story, but it's certainly better than nothing! XD And we'll probably get another AGES soon anyway. Anyone have any speculative (or otherwise) thoughts on this book? :)

How excited are you for TWaRoWM?
  • SO EXCITED!!!!!!!
  • Excited!
  • Eh, I can't decide.
  • Not very excited.

"Jacket" or "Jacks"?

OK, is Heather and Picket's little brother named "Jacks" or "Jacket"? I always assumed that he was named "Jacks" and was nicknamed "Jacket", but I think there are a few who think the other way around. There's been a virtual war over this on his page, with me always changing his name to "Jacks" and someone else changing it back. Can we come to some agreement on this? Thanks!

On the suffix "Son"

Hello Fellow Emberians!

Have you ever noticed how Smith often puts together the name of a son's father and the word "son", and uses it as a son's name? (Hope that made sense!)

Additionally, has it ever occurred to you that that son would have problems naming his son if he wanted to follow suit?

An example of this would be Emerson, from Ember Rising (yes, I'm finally reading the book!), who is the son of Emery. Say that Emerson was all grown up, and had a son. Now, if he wants to follow what seems to be an unspoken protocol in Natalia, he'll have to call his son "Emersonson".

It's just an interesting problem I've seen with naming a son after oneself, and then adding the "son" at the end.

Have any of you ever thought of this problem? ;)

The Battle of First Warren

So I'm a little unsure of what we should call the conflict in First Warren that takes place in Ember Rising. I've been going with "Battle of First Warren", but the way the book ends makes it seem as though there's likely to be another battle, if not several. As such, I'm wondering if we should go with numbering the battles-First Battle of First Warren, Second Battle of First Warren, etc.-or if we'd want to refer to the Ember Rising battle as the Retaking of First Warren and the anticipated conflict in book four as the Battle of First Warren when we eventually get information on it. Thoughts?
