Garten Longtreader is the brother of Wilfred and Whittle, and the uncle of Heather, Picket, and Jacket. He is an ally of Morbin Blackhawk.
Biography
Early life
Prior to the events of The Green Ember, Garten was the ambassador of King Jupiter and helped create the peace of the Great Wood. He betrayed King Jupiter and caused the king's death.
The Green Ember
At the end of the book when Smalls is held at Redeye Garlackson's mercy, Garten appears and is seen drawing The Green Ember out of Smalls' bag. After Picket kills Redeye Garlackson, Garten crawls away in a hasty retreat.

Attack on Cloud Mountain
Garten works with Bleston to capture Emma to give her over to Morbin. Garten reveals that if he blows his whistle a bird will come to take him away and the wolf reserves will not attack. If the whistle is not blown then entire force will be released and Cloud Mountain will be utterly destroyed.
After Picket arrives and defeats Garten's forces, Garten makes a deal with Emma, and he is allowed to blow his whistle and leave from the seventh standing stone.
Physical appearance
Garten is a grey rabbit who is said to look similar to Wilfred and Whittle.
